"Equal Justice Under Law"

David J. Bryson, Esq.

My extensive Criminal pre-trial experience was born out of a two-year internship with the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office and further development over the next four years of private practice in various counties throughout central and southern California. Over these past four years, I have built on a foundation initially laid at the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office. I handled a caseload of over a hundred combined Misdemeanor and Felony cases at any given time. These cases varied in type and jurisdiction spanning across Napa, Solano, Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, Yuba, Sutter, Colusa and Nevada Counties. The experience obtained from defending a variety of types of crimes speaks for itself, however, I feel it is important to convey that the experience from adjusting to local rules and standards across jurisdictions has been an invaluable asset in handling criminal cases.

The solid foundation of my criminal defense experience was forged at the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office where the learning curve was very steep and the competition was fierce. I thrived in this environment, excelling at each and every task I undertook. I credit much of this to my personal interest in the subject matter and my sense of responsibility owed to my clients that are relying on me to help determine their immediate future.

This strong sense of duty is a product of excellent professors in Law School as well as University, and my six years of Infantry service in the United States Armed Forces. My undergraduate education at California State University Chico provided a background in Political Science, specifically, in the field of Criminal Law. The knowledge I obtained during my undergraduate internships, as a paralegal and then as Director of a paralegal program, was very useful in understanding the legal system early on in my career. Case Management and Legal Research are some of the more notable skills that I acquired through my extensive undergraduate work in Public Law.

I mention this here as I wish for you to know that my passion for the preservation of our Constitutional Rights long predates my position as an Attorney. I believe that my strong academic background in Criminal Law, both Public Defender and Private Practice work experience, can be utilized to benefit you. I am ready to put my knowledge and experience to task in the everlasting struggle that is our responsibility as Lawyers to provide zealous representation to our community.
